Bringing Advanced ENT Care Closer to Home

Expanding Life-Saving Treatment Options and Reducing Delays for Patients in Northern Israel

In collaboration with The Society of Friends of Ziv Medical Center, this initiative will provide Ziv with the SmartXide² TRIO CO₂ Laser, a state-of-the-art system designed for precision, safety, and minimally invasive ENT procedures. The new laser will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to treat life-threatening conditions such as laryngeal and vocal cord cancer, while also addressing precancerous oral lesions and complex ear surgeries.

Currently, patients requiring these specialized procedures are forced to travel to distant hospitals. This affects many patients, delaying treatment, prolonging suffering, and in some cases reducing survival chances. By acquiring the SmartXide² TRIO, Ziv will be able to perform these critical surgeries locally, ensuring timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.

Benefits for Patients and the Community:

  • Timely Care for Life-Threatening Conditions: Patients will no longer face lengthy delays or referrals. The SmartXide² TRIO enables immediate access to advanced ENT surgery within the Galilee region.

  • Improved Treatment Outcomes: The laser’s Pulse Shape Design (PSD®) technology ensures precise tissue removal with minimal thermal damage. This preserves patients’ quality of life, particularly for those with vocal cord cancers where speech and airway function are at risk.

  • Expanded Range of Procedures: With its unique three-in-one design (CO₂ articulated arm, CO₂ hollow fibre, and diode laser module), the system offers versatility for delicate tumour excisions, vocal cord surgeries, ear procedures, and prevention of malignant tumour progression.

  • Strengthening Local Medical Capabilities: Ziv will join the ranks of leading hospitals worldwide using this gold-standard technology for transoral laser microsurgery and other complex ENT interventions, bringing world-class care directly to Northern Israel.

Ziv Medical Center is the frontline hospital for Israel’s northern border communities, serving civilians and soldiers alike under constant emergency conditions.

By equipping Ziv with the SmartXide² TRIO CO₂ Laser (approximately $290,000), IMFoC is ensuring that residents of the Galilee region gain access to life-saving treatments without delay, thereby reducing mortality and significantly improving the quality of life for those facing cancer and other critical conditions.

Your support directly empowers this essential upgrade, bringing advanced ENT care closer to home and saving more lives in Northern Israel.

Enhancing Patient Care in Northern Israel

Advancing Medical Imaging at Ziv Medical Center for More Accurate Diagnoses and Life-Saving Treatments

Israel Magen Fund of Canada, in collaboration with the Society of Friends of Ziv Medical Center, is working to improve patient care and outcomes in Northern Israel by enhancing the medical imaging capabilities at Ziv Medical Center. These improvements are critical for delivering timely and accurate diagnoses and treatments for patients facing complex health conditions.

The initiative focuses on providing advanced imaging technologies that enable healthcare professionals to perform precise evaluations and surgeries. This technology improves care for patients suffering from conditions such as prostate, kidney, and bladder issues. It also supports better management of blood flow and tumour localization, ensuring that critical procedures can be performed with greater accuracy and efficiency.

Benefits for Patients:

  • Improved Diagnosis and Treatment: Enhanced imaging allows for faster and more accurate diagnoses, reducing delays for critically ill patients.

  • Better Surgical Outcomes: Real-time visualization during procedures leads to more precise interventions, improved recovery times, and reduced complications.

  • Increased Access to Care: Strengthened imaging capabilities mean more patients can receive advanced care locally, reducing the need for referrals to distant hospitals.

Ziv Medical Center serves as a lifeline for patients across Northern Israel, including civilians and soldiers injured during conflicts. IMFoC’s efforts to enhance medical imaging will directly benefit these patients, ensuring they receive high-quality, life-saving care when needed most.

With a total cost of $450,000, this ambitious project aims to enhance patient care in northern Israel significantly. Your generous support will empower IMFoC to provide better treatment options and improve the overall health outcomes for all residents in the region.
