Supporting Families and Children in Sderot
We help Sderot’s residents stay safe under fire and support their personal and community growth through essential programs.
In Sderot, nearly 30,000 Israelis endure constant rocket, mortar, and incendiary attacks from Gaza. This community, already on Israel's socio-economic margins, faces the added burden of ongoing emotional trauma.

The Israel Magen Fund of Canada (IMFoC) is raising funds to support the Parenthood Home for Family Therapy in Sderot. This facility is vital in providing much-needed aid to families in a region devastated by ongoing conflict.
Located just 2 kilometres from the Gaza border, Sderot is a community deeply impacted by frequent rocket attacks, with more than 700 attacks occurring annually. These assaults have a profound effect on the mental health of the population, particularly on children—80% of whom suffer from PTSD due to the constant threat of violence.
The Parenthood Home for Family Therapy will offer parents the guidance and tools to support their children. Through a series of six personalized sessions, professional parent instructors will address each family's unique struggles, whether related to managing childhood anxiety, dealing with the effects of ADHD, or coping with the trauma induced by the area's ongoing security challenges. Beyond these individual sessions, families will have access to workshops designed to tackle broader issues, such as how to provide emotional support during times of conflict and how to foster a stable environment for children growing up in such a traumatic setting.
The Sderot Foundation provides essential resources for tailored initiatives that support Sderot’s residents, easing their daily challenges and addressing long-term trauma in this resilient community.
